Sonic, I got so much out of this post... I share your belief system about health and have been illness free since about 2000, am around sick people all the time and never use antibiotics or antibackterials... skating definitely helps! so does gratitude and making friends with the unknown...
I believe the unknown is a well of pure water...we believe it is pure and drink it in, or fear it and make it poison before we ever taste it.

I never really understood why I instinctively keep my heat low in the winter and avoid AC in the summer... makes perfect sense... one thing I would add is that any kind of dishonesty is toxic... I practice telling the truth no matter how difficult it can be sometimes.

Being in Bahia, and losing a total sense of time and structure, must have been awesome. I guess that's what I try to do when I'm home on break. However, as a college student, I find that I DO have ten things to in one day, with only enough time to feasibly get through about half of them. It's really difficult to find the balance you're talking about, and if you do happen to master it, please blog about it!

Thanks for the feedback. Mixing the board and bed sounds like a good idea. I haven't really tried much else more so out of laziness - the current situation is well within the "good enough" domain. I'm beginning to think that the optimal bed is one that's very firm but not super hard.

hi Arnav, just read ur article about sleeping on wooden board. actually i too am doing same experiment and have been sleeping over a wood plank for over a year now. it is a one inch thick plank - the one used for making cabinet doors, abt 6.5 x 2.5 feet. but i have learnt from this experiment that our body needs both type of bases - a wooden board, as well as a soft bed. what i have done is, i have put a wooden plank on top of my matress, as my wife likes matress, and me, wooden board. so when i come home after a 1 hour bike ride, i sleep on wooden board - it sooths the muscles, then after abt 4 hours of sleep, i need a soft bed, so i just roll over to soft bed at night, as the board starts feelign too hard. so i get best of both.. my experiment will continue too..:)

[...] Creativity is indeed about putting ideas together. The more ideas you have (and the more varied they are), the more “parts” you have to work with in forming new ones. That’s really it. The upshot is that this makes creativity more a skill that can be developed than a talent that one is fortunate to be born with (though I suppose it helps to some degree to have a pattern mind).
1 - if you loose control (either from being stupid or an evasive manuver) and your car is now not point the right direction, the BEST thing you can do is lokc the wheels. If they are locked, you car will continue in the direction of its momentum and will be slowing down. If the braking system won't let them lock and slide, they will turn the car's off the road much more abruptly which is much worse than just skidding sidewyas to a hault. This is demonstrated countless times every Sunday in NASCAR. 2 - on gravel or dirt, the tires need to lock and 'dig-in' to be able to stop. As long as your car 'thinks' it's skidding it simply doesn't brake and you'll never get stopped. That's why serious off-roaders don't use them.
